Technical communications trainings
Technical communications trainings focus on making your user guides and other technical documentation more readable.
Does your company produce a lot of technical documentation, such as user manuals, sales support materials, or other product documentation, in either Finnish or English? And would you like to make them more readable and of higher quality? We can provide your company with customized technical communications trainings, for example, on writing user‑centered technical documentation and user instructions. Below is an example of a one‑day training session.
Or if you are interested in STE (Simplified Technical English), we can provide training on that as well.
An example of one-day training
This one day training is intended for anyone who needs to write technical documentation in English (for example, user manuals, product documentation, or specifications) but does not have English as their native language. We can organize trainings either as traditional classroom trainings and as virtual trainings, for example, via Teams.
During the training, we will cover, among other things:
- how to plan the structure and contents of a technical document or user manual easily by using information types
- why it is important to consider the readers of your text and how different audiences influence its content
- how to write user centered instructional text: basic rules for writing user manuals
- how to improve the readability and findability of your text, and how to write in a way that makes your text easy to translate into other languages
- how to enhance the grammatical quality of your English text or user manual: we will go through grammar topics using examples and practical tips
