EU regulation on deforestation

The Deforestation Regulation requires companies to ensure that products containing, for example, soy, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, beef and wood products have been produced without deforestation.

Companies must demonstrate the deforestation-free content of their products and raw materials through due diligence and traceability requirements. This means assessing and managing the risks in the company’s own supply chains and tracking the origin of the products. The regulation will apply to large companies from 30 December 2025, and to SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) later.
